Tonight I showed my aunt and my older male cousin Les Misérables (2012). Here is a rough reconstruction of our commentary, most of it coming from my cousin:
~ To use a Dungeons and Dragons term, Javert would be "lawful good."
~ Me: This song is about Cosette's father. Cousin: Is it Javert? Me: Whoa, no! Good plot twist idea, though.
~ [At the transition from the Thénardier inn to Cosette in the woods] The woods are probably a better environment to be in.
~ [Seeing Gavroche for the first time] Kind of an Oliver Twist type, huh?
~ [Watching Marius fawn over Cosette] Cousin: You're an idiot. Me: Yeah, pretty much. And that's what they're all thinking. Cousin: Like, seriously guys, I saw a girl!
~ [Watching Valjean pull Marius into the sewers] Might as well leave him at this point; taking him into the sewers wouldn't save him.
~ [Credits roll] That was pretty good. That was pretty freaking good.
Success! I have converted two Mizzies.
