I’ve decided to rewrite “The Last Misérables,” and I have some great ideas for adding and changing some characters. But one change I’m not sure about is who should play the protagonist, Jean Valjean. In the original, I gave Sokka that part, which makes sense because he is intelligent. But it occurred to me that another option might be Ikem, from the comics, who like Valjean has to come up with new identities. Another option might be Pakku, since his relationship with Katara is like that of a (grand)father and (grand)daughter. Or I could make it Hakoda, though that would mean he wouldn’t be Katara’s biological father.
Reevaluating my DeviantArt account
I don't know if anyone is still interested in this account. I've been reevaluating the purpose of it for a while, in light of my writing/photography career on the one hand and my fandom activity on the other. At one time I thought I might blur the line between them (such as when my work was accepted in fanzines a few years ago), but now I'm at a place where I would like them to be distinct and separate. It's not that I'm ashamed of either one, but they aren't as relevant to each other. I do not need this site to aid my professional work, and I don't have the time or interest to submit anything fandom-related here. Additionally, I'm not keen on the new DeviantArt format, which I find harder to navigate. I think I will keep this account intact so that people can still see the motivational posters and collages I made back in the day, and so I can still keep track of my favorite fan art in the collections I painstakingly sorted years ago. My predictions for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalke
I'd like to say, for the record, that I thought of these before we had any trailers or information. ~ The Rise of Skywalker will explore the meaning of that name, in the same way Solo: A Star Wars Story explored the meaning of the name Solo. ~ Rey and Ben/Kylo's relationship will continue to shape plot and character development. ~ Rey and Ben/Kylo will have positive interactions. ~ Some reference will be made to Leia’s “only hope” ~ Han’s gold dice will continue to be a symbol and motif ~ Rey will compete with Poe for the role of pilot and with Rose for role of mechanic ~ Porgs will continue to provide endearing comic relief, but might upgrade to contributing to the action in some way ~ The story of Rey’s parents will be fleshed out, but she won’t be related to anyone special. Ben/Kylo told her (what he thought was) the truth about them. Any inaccuracy will be due to misinterpretation rather than lies. ~ Rey will discuss Ben/Kylo with Leia and/or Finn, the way Luke discussed Vader

I did not grow up with Star Wars. My first exposure to it came indirectly through different sources. The worst of these was a Full House episode in which Steve gave a Darth Vader impression and quoted the most iconic revelation in cinematic history, essentially ruining my eventual viewing experience. I never experienced the shock of learning the characters’ secret identities and relationships.
I did not watch the films until I was well into my teen years. My dad found the original trilogy on videocassettes at a yard sale. I sat through them, but didn’t see much to like. I couldn’t relate to Luke the farmboy, or Han the smug

Hmm... quite honestly, I'd suggest sticking to one of the Water Tribe guys - be it Sokka or Pakku. My personal preference would be to stick with Sokka.
