In an interview on the DVD of The Last Airbender, Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko said that they thought if Aang was the spirit of the show, Katara was the heart. Going along with this analogy, I think that Sokka is the intellect, Toph is the senses, and Zuko is the conscience.
